Confessions of a Fitness Enthusiast
(pic from Microsoft clipart)
I woke up this morning and felt the need to share something with you all. I have been working on this “fitness bucket list” ever since I discovered there is more to fitness than the gym. Every time I write something on that list I forget to add one thing, learn how to ride a bike. Yes I do not know how to ride a bike. I remember the day I stopped loving bikes, I was 5 years old and my dad told me that it was time to get rid of my tricycle and try the bicycle. I was super excited because I wanted to ride a regular bike just like my father and my sister. Later did I know that it would turn out to be a nightmare! I owned a helmet and a bike my parents taught my sister how to ride without all the extra padding and other things. I guess they thought I would naturally progress on to a bicycle and I did not. After a few days of trying to ride a two wheeler I attempted to ride on my own, and I fell of scraped my knee badly (the one that misbehaves on my runs) and I never rode a bike again.
So now that I have my own daughter who loves riding her tricycle and her scooter, I feel that it is time for me to get back on the bike and learn. My daughter needs a role model because if I can’t do it then she may never transition into the bicycle. So I guess learning how to ride a bike needs to be on top of my fitness bucket list. I guess step one is to actually buy a bicycle first and then everything else will follow. Since I am taking a step to conquer my bicycle fears I am encouraging you to go out there and conquere your fears and to also start that fitness journey if you haven’t done so.
Have a great Fit & Fabulous Day!
Weekly Recap
This week was long and rough! I visited my chiropractor and it was great! It was a long over due visit I was falling apart. Later on in the week my daughter became sick and I barely slept, I am just drained. But I am happy that I was able to get some work out in this week and she is feeling like her self again.
On Friday I went out for Korean food with my friends and it was delish!
That Evening Izzy, my niece and I had a little fitness adventure of our own. We went to the tennis court in my condo and danced, had a running competition, and rode scooters. We had a blast!

In other news I have been shopping for the best yoga mat because my mat is thin and very old. It is about time for me to give it up and get a better one. Also I want to build up the courage to go out and take an actual yoga class, I am sure it is a thousand times better than dvds. Below are a few mats I am debating on in the mean time (I really need the support):

I am starting Fresh next week and I am super excited about it!

I hope every one has a great Sunday!

November is here and I am so excited for the Holidays and all of the great things to come. As I mentioned in my previous post I have a hectic schedule ahead of me but I am excited and ready for the adventure. Here are a few things I learned so far during this journey.
- I have new-found appreciation for Yoga (very relaxing and great for my back)

and everything else will follow - NEVER let anyone tell you that you CAN’T do
something - Always remember stay hydrated before a long run
This month we are trying to raise awareness for type 2 diabetes I leave you now with a few facts:
- Diabetes affects nearly 26 mill. Americans – 8.3% of the U.S. population.

Loving the Journey!
I am pleased to announce that I lost 51 pounds so far! I started this journey late June, and it has been an amazing journey so far. I am learning so much about myself and changing my life in a positive way. My goal is to lose 140 pounds in exactly one year, I am not going to stress so much on the number, but the lifestyle changes. So far I am eating cleaner, staying active, and loving the fitness community. Who knew that I would fall in love with running, enjoy fruit for dinner, or want to even participate in a race. I am a work in progress but so far I feel that the changes that I have made has been great! I want to thank everyone for their support, all of my family, friends, and readers (Blog, Facebook. Twitter).
In the next few months before the year ends I am determined to lose 34 pounds. That is a lot of weight to lose during the holiday season, but I also feel that it is important for me to stay focus and accomplish this goal. I know that it is not always about the scale but the problem is that I have been ignoring the scale for years and by doing so I gained so much weight. I didn’t look 280 pounds but I was, and that is a scary feeling. So although I am not fixated on the numbers everyday it is important to check in once in a while, even though I feel great.
So by the end of the year I look forward to losing 85 lbs before 2012, also I hope to run one 5k race before the year is over, and train for another in January. I am confident that with a few changes this can definitely be done. That also means that I may not have that much time to blog as I would hope since I am starting my final four classes before graduation, and I do not have a working laptop at this time. So please follow my journey through Twitter (divaliciousmomy) and I will start posting a weekly recap on Sundays of my “adventures” throughout the week.
So here is to getting healthy the best decision I made this year! I am inspired by everyone’s effort to be healthier so please do not forget to share your journey with us here (guest bloggers welcomed!) and on Facebook ( https://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Journey-to-Fit-Fabulous/221289944590150).
Great Restful Weekend!

(pic from Google)
Despite my very complex work week, I am glad I had a great weekend to make up for it. I spend Friday night with my daughter and niece enjoying tacos and chips at Chili’s. I enjoyed ballerina Saturday with mini me, and indulged in a delish health breakfast at First Watch daytime café for the first time. We visited Dicks Sporting Goods Store, and they had an awesome indoor track where we raced each other and mini me won each time. Afterward we spend the afternoon shopping for small trinkets and going to the library where we borrowed books on snow. Sadly My phone died during this adventure so I do not have pics of us running the track, my attempt to kickbox at the store, or our delish breakfast at First Watch. Overall I had a great weekend and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Fabulous Friday Video
I love this song! It is fun and the beat is great during a work out or run! Have a great Friday Everyone!
Tasty Tuesday
I love tomato soup! It is delish and simple to make I found this great recipe from Cooking Light Magazine. Tomato soup is great for a cold fall evening and it is healthy.
Tomato Soup
Ingredients
- 2 cups fat-free, less-sodium chicken broth
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 3/4 cup chopped celery
- 1 tablespoon thinly sliced fresh basil
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 2 pounds plum tomatoes, cut into wedges
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 6 tablespoons plain low-fat yogurt
- 3 tablespoons thinly sliced fresh basil
Preparation
- 1. Combine first 6 ingredients in a large saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer 30 minutes. Place half of tomato mixture in a blender. Remove center piece of blender lid (to allow steam to escape); secure blender lid on blender. Place a clean towel over opening in blender lid (to avoid splatters). Blend until smooth. Pour into a large bowl. Repeat procedure with remaining tomato mixture. Stir in salt and pepper. Ladle 3/4 cup soup into each of 6 bowls; top each serving with 1 tablespoon yogurt and 1 1/2 teaspoons basil.

Mamavation Monday: HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!

Happy Halloween everyone! Last week was a good week. I enjoyed my mini vacation from school, spent time with mini me, and enjoyed life. I worked out, but not as much as I would have liked. I had a great time dressing up mini me as a princess ballerina fairy, on Saturday for her dance school’s party, she had a blast. The best part of the day was when she won third place in the costume contest, she was super excited. No trick or treating today I have to work late, plus we usually do it during the weekend at a community event. Since I didn’t get a chance to go this weekend we are just spending time at home this year.
In November we are trying to raise awareness to Type 2 Diabetes, you can join the campaign by loading the official twibbon on to our twitter
pictures. You can participate by clicking here, http://twibbon.com/join/Fit2Fight-Type2 . This campaign means so much to me because my mother is a diabetic as well as so many women in my family. I am trying to do my best to help prevent diabetes for future generations. So it is important for us to do our best to live a healthier, active lifestyle. Please help raise awareness and provide prevention options to this disease.

Vintage Fitness
After watching that PBS documentary on how at home fitness recordings started I was super excited to do some research myself. I found so much cool information of how fitness impacted our lives in the past compared to today’s society. Sadly we have let ourselves go and it is time for us to get FIT! Fitness is fun just take a look at some of these pics from Google.
