My Progress So Far

(pic from Google)

I have been so busy with school that I have not updated everyone on my progress. I still work out five days a week, but due to my knee issues I am not working out as hard as I would like.  At this point it is time for me to make a few adjustments in my eating habits and also increase my workout level. It has been hard blogging with no laptop and tons of papers to write, I look forward to my graduation in May it will all be worth it.

For some reason I stop losing weight I guess it’s because I am not doing as much as I use too, for now I am encouraged to keep pushing forward. I am excited about Shape Magazine’s 30day challenge, I decided to do 30 miles in 30 days. So far I am really close to reaching that goal I will keep you posted on my progress. Until then I will try to figure out what needs to be done about my weight loss, I am losing inches and I look different, none of my clothes fit but somehow the numbers are not moving. Hopefully soon we can see some progress. That is all for now!

Have a Fit and Fabulous day everyone!

New Year=New You! Happy New Year 2012

Happy New Year!

A new year equals a new you! I am super excited about this year, due to many reasons. This year I plan on accomplishing so many things such as graduating with my bachelor’s degree, running a few races, losing the remaining 80lbs, learning a new language, travel and more. I am ready for all of these adventures and I look forward to sharing them with everyone.

Today Google shared a super cute piece of art work and it was a reminder of what we always try to resolve in a new year and never get the chance to do it. I have decided that will not be me,  I plan on accomplishing everything that I set out to do this year because I know that I am able to do it and I am my own motivator! Although I am inspired by others and their movements to make changes in their lives, I believe that everyone can be their own motivator. You may need a friend to help motivate you to get fit and get healthier this year but remember that it all starts with you and no one else. If you have a goal nothing can stop you from fulfilling it except for you. Please take the Google art seriously because we tend to start project and forget about them. This year should be different let us complete what we set out to accomplish and focus on what is important which is getting to a healthier you!

Let’s get Fit and Fabulous this New Year!

Celebrity Inspiration: Marilyn Monroe

Today’s vintage pictures are of the fabulous Marilyn Monroe! She was a style icon, movie star, and she was also a fitness enthusiast! She was a runner, enjoyed lifting weights and hated routines. When it came to fitness she was open and free and just remained active and did what ever made her feel good. Fitness is fun and Marilyn made it exhilarating!

Mamavation Monday

Happy Monday! I am ready to tackle another week, let’s hope this week is better than the last. I had a great weekend enjoyed time with friends and family but it is time to get back to work. Today’s blog post is about how to get your loved ones moving. I wrote a piece about this a few weeks ago on how to help your friends and family embrace fitness and start their journey. I encourage my family to get moving and stay active by suggesting family fun activities, walking, bike riding, outdoor sports, yoga and more. It is equally important to lead by example that is the best way to get your family motivated. If they see you doing your best to lead an active lifestyle, then most likely they will too.

Check out this post  on how to talk to your loved ones about getting activehttp://wp.me/p1FEOb-7C

Mamavation Monday: Ready for the Holidays!

(pic from Google)

I love the holidays, Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays not just because of the food but because our families are together. This week I plan on utilizing my extra days off to spend time with the family and work out. I wanted to run the Turkey Trot but since it is too far of a drive, I have decided to run 4-5 miles Thursday morning. I am super excited this year we are having a cleaner thanksgiving, vegetable, fruits, and other goodies. I am also working on revising recipes to make them lighter so we can enjoy the foods we love without feeling guilty. I look forward to watching all of the holiday specials and putting up my Christmas tree this weekend.

How to fight off that extra weight during the holidays?

I plan on staying active and eating healthy this holiday just as I am doing now to avoid the extra weight gain. I believe in moderation and balance if there is a recipe that I cannot make cleaner then I will just eat less. I love trying new things so hopefully I can try healthier holiday recipes and see how it goes.

This week’s workout

Monday- Run 2 miles/ Play time with Baby girl

Tuesday- Elliptical/ strength training

Wednesday- yoga/ Play time with Baby girl

Thursday- Run 4-5miles

Friday-Off

I hope everyone have a Fit and Fabulous week!

Confessions of a Fitness Enthusiast

(pic from Microsoft clipart)

I woke up this morning and felt the need to share something with you all. I have been working on this “fitness bucket list” ever since I discovered there is more to fitness than the gym. Every time I write something on that list I forget to add one thing, learn how to ride a bike. Yes I do not know how to ride a bike. I remember the day I stopped loving bikes, I was 5 years old and my dad told me that it was time to get rid of my tricycle and try the bicycle. I was super excited because I wanted to ride a regular bike just like my father and my sister. Later did I know that it would turn out to be a nightmare! I owned a helmet and a bike my parents taught my sister how to ride without all the extra padding and other things. I guess they thought I would naturally progress on to a bicycle and I did not. After a few days of trying to ride a two wheeler I attempted to ride on my own, and I fell of scraped my knee badly (the one that misbehaves on my runs) and I never rode a bike again.

So now that I have my own daughter who loves riding her tricycle and her scooter, I feel that it is time for me to get back on the bike and learn. My daughter needs a role model because if I can’t do it then she may never transition into the bicycle. So I guess learning how to ride a bike needs to be on top of my fitness bucket list. I guess step one is to actually buy a bicycle first and then everything else will follow. Since I am taking a step to conquer my bicycle fears I am encouraging you to go out there and conquere your fears and to also start that fitness journey if you haven’t done so.

Have a great Fit & Fabulous Day!

Weekly Recap

This week was long and rough! I visited my chiropractor and it was great! It was a long over due visit I was falling apart. Later on in the week my daughter became sick and I barely slept, I am just drained. But I am happy that I was able to get some work out in this week and she is feeling like her self again.

On Friday I went out for Korean food with my friends and it was delish!

That Evening Izzy, my niece and I had a little fitness adventure of our own. We went to the tennis court in my condo and danced, had a running competition, and rode scooters. We had a blast!

In other news I have been shopping for the best yoga mat because my mat is thin and very old. It is about time for me to give it up and get a better one. Also I want to build up the courage to go out and take an actual yoga class, I am sure it is a thousand times better than dvds. Below are a few mats I am debating on in the mean time (I really need the support):

I am starting Fresh next week and I am super excited about it!

I hope every one has a great Sunday!

Mamavation Monday

November is here and I am so excited for the Holidays and all of the great things to come. As I mentioned in my previous post I have a hectic schedule ahead of me but I am excited and ready for the adventure.  Here are a few things I learned so far during this journey.

  1. I have new-found appreciation for Yoga (very relaxing and great for my back)
  2. A good pair of running shoes is very important
  3. Surround yourself with supportive and caring individuals
    and everything else will follow
  4. NEVER let anyone tell you that you CAN’T do
    something
  5. Always remember stay hydrated before a long run

This month we are trying to raise awareness for type 2 diabetes I leave you now with a few facts:

  • Diabetes affects nearly 26 mill. Americans – 8.3% of the U.S. population.
  • Through healthy eating and exercise, you can prevent and manage diabetes
  • Diabetes is undiagnosed in approx. 7 mill. people in the U.S.

Knowing this please let us all make sure that we are making an effort to start and continue a healthier lifestyle for ourselves and our families.

Make sure to also RSVP for the twitter party with Bob Greene on 11/16, http://www.mamavation.com/2011/10/fit2fight-type2-diabetes-party-wbob-greene-bettern-eggs.html.  To enter the giveaways, we are asking you to also load the twibbon on your twitter page.
